Kelly grew up in Western Pennsylvania. She has a BS in environmental science and a Master in Resource Law (MRLS). For nearly two decades, she lived in the West before she and her husband moved to Santa Fe, his hometown. She is delighted they can raise their two daughters in a multicultural city with extended family nearby. Descended from a long line of small-business owners, Kelly is enthusiastic about contributing to and building community.
Martin was born and raised in Santa Fe, and his family’s ties to the city go back many generations. He holds a BA in psychology and has been a small-business owner for several decades. He is passionate about Santa Fe and honoring the cosmopolitan, ever-evolving city it has become.
Janet has served as the editor of The Essential Guide for fourteen years, and she is excited about fulfilling that role for the Santa Fean as well. She grew up in Dallas and lived there most of her life before she and her husband moved to Santa Fe fifteen years ago. In Dallas, she had a long career as an award-winning college professor and top-selling textbook writer. She holds a BA in English and Latin, and a PhD in the pedagogy and psychology of reading. She loves words and learning new things. She is the author of Placed Out, a work of historical fiction.
Bobby Beals is an entrepreneur that started his own artist consulting agency in his early 20’s that resulted into owning and operating a fine art gallery and curating business. Beals made his impression in Santa Fe on historic Canyon Road with his fine art gallery, Beals & Co. Showroom and has participated in numerous art shows including Art Dubai, Loveland Sculpture Show and Jackson Hole Fine Art Fair. Among his passion projects, he curates and owns Kamagraph Skateboard Company. Beals is proud to work with the Santa Fean and Essential Guide as their business development director and create and strengthen the goals of all their clients.
Eileen has been a Santa Fean for almost twenty years. She and her husband had a ‘calling’ to come to the land of enchantment. Working in nonprofits and advertising sales in the City Different, Eileen found both industries allow her to express her creativity, compassion for others and drive for success. She has raised seven children and loves time with her family. Additional hobbies include birding, camping, hiking, and traveling. She is excited to be part of the Santa Fean and the Essential Guide to help highlight the beauty of her community of Northern New Mexico.
A former middle and high school educator, Lindsay Taylor gained her marketing expertise through Denver’s nonprofit community before relocating to Santa Fe in 2017. In Santa Fe, she is the co-founder and executive director of Queen Bee Music Association, a nonprofit music school. As part of the Santa Fean and The Essential Guide teams, she looks forward to posting Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico articles, information and photographs for website visitors.
Avery Pearson loves hiking, photography, reading and nice writing implements. He seeks things of permanence from past times (e.g., fountain pens, typewriters and pocket watches). He enjoys discovering archaic words and exploring with his family, and he takes pride in growing his beard.
Writing engaging articles for print and websites continues to be one passion of Emily Van Cleve. She has been a freelance writer and journalist in Santa Fe since 1994, serving a wide range of clients including magazines, newspapers, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations. Emily has been a contributor to Santa Fean magazine for many years and is delighted to be working with the Santa Fean and Essential Guide team. An abstract painter and former professional pianist, Emily also enjoys hiking throughout New Mexico and at the Grand Canyon.
