February / March 2021

Greetings –

Santa Fe draws people from around the country and the world.  The first time I visited Santa Fe, I fell in love with the food, culture, art, history and architecture. Although it was a few years later when my husband and I moved to Santa Fe and back to his childhood home, we always knew that down the line, we wanted to retire here. We are thankful that we had the opportunity to move to Santa Fe long before retirement. The City Different continues to hold a special place in my heart, as it does for so many other people.

The theme of the February/March issue, “Deep in Our Hearts,” celebrates our singular city, its magnificent setting, its culture and people. In “The Flowers for Santa Fe Project: Artists’ Donated Works Brighten Spirits” and “People We Love: John Rochester,” read about amazing people who lend their time and talent to local philanthropic efforts. Read about uniquely Southwestern gems and jewelry in “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing: A Turquoise Buyer’s Guide” and “Squash Blossom Special: An Iconic Southwestern Necklace.

Santa Fe has long been an art mecca and home to galleries. In “Tierra Mar Gallery: An Art Experience,” read about an innovative gallery that opened its doors in 2020, despite the challenging business environment. Santa Fe also produces some world-renowned artists whose works grace its galleries. For instance, read about our cover photographer and his stunning black-and-white work in “The Photography of Cody Brothers: Staying Analog in a Digital World.”  This issue’s home highlight features a superbly designed “forever home” by Woods Design Builders that melds traditional Santa Fe style and contemporary style. Finally, in “The Prized Piñon,” learn more about the second most sought-after ingredient in Northern New Mexico, and in “HoneyMoon Brewery’s Revolutionary Kombucha Beer,” read about a trailblazing, award-winning Santa Fe brewery.

There are so many things that Santa Fe offers, and I am thrilled to have explored several of them with you, our readers and subscribers, over the last six months.  I look forward to sharing many more in the issues to come.

Much Love,
